About Waqf-e-Ardhi

What is Waqf-e-Ardhi?

The word Waqf-e-Ardhi in the context of the Jama’at means volunteering for a short period of time to serve the Community. One can volunteer anywhere from 3 days to several months depending on the devotee’s personal circumstances and the Jamaat’s needs. Please visit this page to learn more about Waqf-e-Ardhi at http://wa.dev-altaqwa.us

History of  Waqf-e-Ardhi

Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih III (rh) officially introduced the Waqf-e-Aardhi scheme in 1966. Initially, the purpose of the scheme was to promote the learning and teaching of the Holy Quran as well as imparting religious knowledge to Jamaat members in small towns and villages acrossPakistan. An Ahmadi would volunteer for at least two weeks at a designated Jamaat at his own expense under this scheme.

The Promised Messiah (as) has always mentioned in his writings about the importance of devoting one’s time towards the service of the Community to win the pleasure of Allah. The companions of the Promised Messiah (as) were exemplary in their devotion to the Community. For example, Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) after his immigration to Qadian, dedicated himself in the services of Islam day and night. His daily routine included giving commentary on the Quran and the Hadith, treating patients free of charge, teaching theology and medicine, and proof-reading books of the Promised Messiah (as).

How does Waqf-e-Ardhi work today?

In 2008, Hazur (aba) established a new combined department of Taleem-ul-Quran and Waqf-e-Ardhi (TaQWA) in every country. The community members are encouraged to enroll and devote their time to teaching a variety of religious topics and non-religious skills, providing other needed services, and teaching the Holy Quran and Hadith at various Jamaat chapters across theUS.

Why devote time through Waqf-e-Ardhi?

In today’s fast-moving society, time is perhaps the most precious commodity. In the Holy Quran, Allah says to spend in His way out of what we love most: “You cannot attain righteousness unless you spend out of that which you love; and whatever you spend, Allah surely knows it well.” [3:93]. In addition to seeking the pleasure of Allah, one would be able to develop fellowship and friendship with the new community members. It is also an excellent way for learning new skills and sharpen your knowledge.

How does the Enrollment Process work?

If you wish to volunteer under this program, please get in touch with your local Jamaat president to obtain a token for on-line enrollment. This will enable you to establish an on-line account. You can then enter your personal contact information, availability, and skills on a one-page on-line form. You will immediately receive an email confirming your enrollment. The local Jamaat president pre-approves your request and forwards it to the national Waqf-e-Ardhi team . It is then reviewed and matched with the most suitable needs submitted by other Jamaats. You will be notified about the status of your request within 2 weeks. The travel expenses are normally borne by the devotee, while the hosting Jamaat is responsible for all meals and lodging arrangements.

Jazak’Allah!
Wassalam,
TaQWA (Taleem-ul-Quran & Waqf-e-Aardhi) Team
